When you mention a protein that has “gold” in its name, for some reason a supplement from Optimum Nutrition immediately comes to mind. But the sports nutrition market is constantly evolving and introduces a new “golden” product - Golden Whey from Maxler. It would seem like just another whey protein, what’s special about it. But the composition, quality and ingredients of the supplement deserve the attention of those who are still looking for good protein.
Features of Maxler protein
A huge advantage of Golden Whey protein over its competitors is the presence of a mixture of three types of whey protein, including: concentrate, isolate and hydrolysate. What is special about this mixture: it is the hydrolyzate that is the main component that instantly eliminates catabolism. Since the hydrolyzate undergoes partial fermentation during production, almost down to amino acids, this protein is absorbed faster than others, along with a complex of amino acids - up to 20 minutes. This makes Maxler an excellent post-workout choice for instantly delivering protein molecules to your muscles. And also when hunger sets in, to quickly stop the production of the hormone cortisol, which destroys muscle fibers. Whey protein Golden Way 100% is obtained by ultrafiltration.

After I started drinking this protein, my performance improved noticeably, not only physically, but also externally. I don’t know whether this is self-hypnosis or not, but I can say for sure that the price is justified, the taste is pleasant, there is no dampness (the packaging is dense and does not allow moisture to pass through). Well, on the plus side, it really is enough for 30 servings, not like others, just one word, but you dilute it and in fact it’s not 30, but 25, and even then with difficulty, although everything is portioned.

I have long had the opinion that the British, in principle, can do nothing wrong with sports nutrition, but I tried this particular protein for the first time only a couple of months ago. I like the effect, the price, the weight of the package and the portion size (it actually makes 40 servings). Regarding solubility, many write that it is not very good, but for me there are no problems with it. The result is obvious, and as a bonus, I can add that glutamine and BCAA in the composition are a huge plus.

SynTrax Nectar
This product is the development of the Russian brand SynTrax. It gained great popularity back in 2020 and is still in demand, especially among women. Suitable not only for athletes, but also for those on a high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet.

Well, I finally got to the domestic market. And guess what? The protein is no worse than American or British, but costs the same. Pros: many flavors, does not contain lactose and gluten, really enough for 38 servings, well, it’s clear that it’s not accurate when it’s 35, when it’s all 40. It foams a lot, but I don’t consider this a minus. The cost is justified and corresponds to the quality. I definitely recommend it.
SynTrax Nectar

This is probably the most inexpensive protein I have consumed, but in terms of quality I can’t say it’s worse than others. Not better, but not worse, it definitely holds its mark. I don’t lose my shape both externally and physically, and is easily absorbed by the body. In general, everything suits me, so I will continue to drink it. Well, a huge plus is the glutovitamin complex that the supplement contains. I recommend!

The packaging is large and lasts for a long time and for many servings. But that’s not why I chose this protein, but because I have lactose intolerance. Instead of sugar, there is a natural sweetener, which completely suits me. Based on the downsides, I can say that the cost is not the most pleasant, but justified. Firstly, the packaging is really large, and secondly, the product is high quality. I can definitely recommend it.

The manufacturer guarantees immediate absorption immediately after ingestion, and the supplement also has a pleasant smell and taste. Very good for a domestic manufacturer. Inexpensive, high quality. The packaging is perhaps inconvenient and impractical, but the protein itself is more than satisfactory to me. There are almost 30 servings, the protein content is good, the smell and taste are pleasant. And another pleasant thing is that it is really quickly absorbed by the body. It’s at least worth a try, but it’s up to you to decide whether to continue using it or not.

QNT Delicious Whey Protein
Pros and cons of Maxler 100% Golden Whey
Advantages
- A high-quality mixture of three types of whey protein: hydrolyzate, isolate, concentrate.
- Maintains nitrogen balance and has a positive effect on anabolic processes.
- Provides muscle growth and quickly eliminates catabolic processes.
- Allows athletes to recover faster during training, after exercise or throughout the day.
- The enzyme complex improves digestion, reducing side effects.
- Contains a wide amino acid profile, including 5 g of BCAA.
- Thanks to whey protein hydrolyzate, it instantly restores after workouts, along with amino acids, preventing muscle breakdown in the morning and throughout the day.
Flaws
One of the visible disadvantages is the high content of carbohydrates, including sugar, although this does not contradict whey concentrates, but this product is not very suitable for drying and weight loss. Depending on the taste, the carbohydrate content per serving can reach 5 g. At least compared to analogues, this is a lot.
Characteristics
The universal nutrition company produces many types of complexes, each of which has its own characteristics, features of action and disadvantages. They are often similar to each other, but some nuances in the composition are still inevitable.
The ultra whey pro supplement is a product that manages to combine the advantages of modern protein complexes. It is easy to prepare, has an excellent taste, is affordable, dissolves quickly and is well absorbed by the body.
There was also a “fly in the ointment”. The supplement contains protein concentrate, which is considered one of the cheapest types of proteins. In terms of quality, the concentrate is much inferior to the isolate. To compensate for the lack of amino acids, the manufacturer supplemented the composition with hydrolyzate and peptides of a purer protein - isolate. The result is a product with a low price, high absorption rate and a very high level of protein in the composition.
How to take Maxler 100% Golden Whey
To determine the number of servings per day, it is important to calculate the daily requirement for KBJU, and determine the lack of protein in products, replenishing it with protein from Maxler.
It is not recommended to take more than three servings per day.
- Take one serving immediately after sleep; the hydrolyzate in the composition will provide immediate prevention of the breakdown of muscle fibers.
- Take the second serving immediately after exercise or during the day between meals, preventing the production of cortisol.
- And the third between meals.
Mix a 33 gram portion in 200-250 ml of water, milk or juice.
What is inside?
An important point when choosing is to study the composition of the additive. Ultra whey pro protein contains the following components: whey protein concentrate (45%), immunoglobulins (10%), alpha-lactalbumin (20%), hycomacropeptides (15%), bovine serum albumin (6%), lysozyme , lactoperoxidase, lactoferrin, whey protein isolates, peptone protease, glutamine peptides and so on. The composition of the supplement is ideally balanced so that the body quickly and fully receives the components necessary for growth.
Analogues of Golden Way
Analogues of Golden Wei, and not only in name, include Gold Standard from ON. The only thing is that Optimum Nutrition does not include hydrolyzate; for this, the company has developed a 100% hydrolyzate - hydro wei. There is an insignificant difference in the composition of BJU, where proteins win in favor of Maxler - 25 g, while Gold Standard contains 1 gram less. Although we should not forget that a serving of Maxler is 3 grams larger. And in terms of the amount of carbohydrates, Optimum Nutrition has an advantage - 1-2 grams less.

My Fettuccine and My Penne – we didn’t finish it, but maybe it’s a matter of taste
Since FIT MAGAZINE values its reputation as an objective and honest expert in the field of sports nutrition, we cannot help but talk about the disadvantages that, in our opinion, the Myprotein product line has. We are talking about protein pasta products called My fettuccine and My penne (pasta). This innovative idea seemed dubious to us, although the product looks very tasty. You purchase a box containing 10 sealed packages of pasta. Everything is very convenient to unpack, carry and heat up in the microwave or in a frying pan. There is only one minus - protein pasta tastes like pieces of plastic, which, no matter what you flavor with them, still remain so... We cooked them with cheese, shrimp and vegetables, but the result was always the same - after the meal, fettuccine and penne remained on the plate of those present ... Our conclusion is that if you still really want pasta, opt for good Italian pasta made from durum wheat - you will get both benefits and gastronomic pleasure.

Well done guys! Honestly. They have the right and perfectly implemented direction, which sounds simple: “Sports nutrition for everyone! It’s healthy, tasty and healthy!” We completely agree with this position. Therefore, this brand as a whole can be given a 5! Yes, there are some mistakes, but who doesn’t have them? Maybe this is not a mistake, but a creative search. Personally, we had a pleasant impression of getting to know Myprotein, despite the fact that we currently have a sports nutrition of a slightly different aggressive type

Reviews
When choosing a training complex, you should pay attention to reviews about the supplement. As for ultra whey “pro”, positive feedback prevails here. Athletes who have tried the supplement on themselves note the following advantages:
- affordable price, which is much lower than many similar supplements;
- high quality;
- excellent taste that does not turn drinking a cocktail into torture;
- high speed of absorption;
- no side effects.
As for the shortcomings, there is only one - a relatively low level of protein per serving (about 22 grams), but this is compensated by other useful additives - amino acids, peptides, and so on.
Types of protein by absorption rate
Based on the speed of absorption, they distinguish between fast protein (almost always whey), slow (casein) and complex (combinations of whey, egg protein with casein and other components).
According to the degree of purification there are:
- A concentrate is a protein obtained from raw materials (for example, whey) by filtration and then spray-dried (most often) using the method. They write that previously (apparently in ancient times) the protein content in the concentrate was about 40%, and today, as a result of the use of new technologies, it reaches 85%. Protein concentrate is the cheapest type and forms the basis of most supplements sold.
- Isolate is a higher purity protein obtained using methods such as ion exchange, microfiltration, etc. The content of pure protein in it reaches 95% or more. That is, it is really almost pure protein. It contains almost no components such as lactose, fat, cholesterol, etc. Therefore, it is believed that the isolate is not subject to (or partially subject to) contraindications related to the raw protein product.
- A hydrolyzate is also isolated. But this is not so much the degree of purification as the additional processing to which the protein isolate is subjected. The protein molecules in it are already partially destroyed and it is absorbed faster and easier than protein isolate or concentrate.
All this can be protein from any raw material. If the can says “isolate”, this does not mean that it necessarily contains whey protein, and certainly does not mean that it contains 100%.
It may be possible to navigate by the terms “isolate”, “concentrate”, etc. But in my opinion, the composition of a particular protein supplement is much more important. Based on the results of an analysis of the assortment of large online stores selling sports nutrition, it turned out that not everything that says “protein” can be considered as such. Some of these supplements contain 50% protein and 20-30% carbohydrates, which practically means not a protein, but a gainer. Although the packaging says “protein isolate”, “hydrolyzed protein”, “ultrafiltered” and the like blah blah blah. That is, it is quite possible that the total protein is 90% concentrate and 9% isolate (+ 1% hydrolyzate). Moreover, despite the inscription “100% whey protein,” the label below may state “contains milk and soy.” Where does the soy in 100% whey protein come from? He must not be that 100% after all. After all, as 100% you can take not the entire mixture, and not even all the protein in the mixture, but only the main “protein matrix”, which in the whole supplement can be successfully supplemented with a significant piece of soy concentrate and seasoned with maltodextrin. And a naive consumer will see on the can the large letters “100%”, “isolate”, “hydrolyzed”, “whey” - and will think that there really is only one hundred percent pure whey protein. And he’ll be upset when he sees that the belly is growing faster than the bitsukha.
Please note that everything written does not apply to small eateries, but to large stores and leading global manufacturers. They care about their reputation, so they do not allow themselves to deceive customers. And what it says on the can is hydrolyzed 100% whey isolate, it doesn’t mean that the can contains 100% whey and it doesn’t mean that all the whey in it is 100% isolate (or even more so hydrolyzate), but only that protein matrix... blah blah blah. This is what is written here in small letters below, where you forgot to read, or translated incorrectly.
When choosing a protein, rely on the opinion of experts
Unfortunately, we have to admit that most reviews are written by simply illiterate people, which makes it impossible to understand what they actually meant. The following phrases are often found:
“The consumption of my acquaintances who play sports many times exceeded my needs as an ordinary person.”
It is clear that such reviews should be skipped immediately, they are of no use. Or a conversation in the style of “what to drink after training – whey prot or isolate?” – “drink isolate, the degree of purification is better than whey” – “you suckers, isolate is whey!” etc. in the same vein. If people don’t know that isolate can be not only whey protein, but also soy protein or some other protein isolate, then what good can they hear from them?
Basically, consumers evaluate the product based on the criteria of taste and healthiness, as well as the absence of digestive problems. It is clear that all these are exclusively subjective assessments, which nevertheless could be taken into account if they were at least somewhat continuous and widespread. But if a popular product from a well-known manufacturer in a large online store has accumulated only 15-20 reviews over several years, what kind of representativeness can we talk about here?
Main value
Health is the most important component of human happiness. Among human needs, it is one of the first places. This is the most important condition for the successful existence of every member of society. It includes many components: from the absence of diseases and physical defects to complete spiritual and social well-being. Health is based on innate prerequisites, and is also influenced by various factors.
Modern life places increased demands on human health. Sometimes, due to the influence of negative factors, the body needs additional care, which can manifest itself in taking various vitamins and supplements that improve the functioning of all human systems.
Our take on the Myprotein design
Here the logic is clear and everything is done correctly. Products specifically for sports lifestyle, not hardcore. The design is minimalistic and clear. If I were making my own line for general consumption, and not hardcore (of which there is a lot in Fit Mag), I would strive for something like this design. Well done, I think they did it perfectly for their customer.
Design rating: 5.
Let's move on to the products themselves. Since there are no compelling pre-workouts, we will evaluate mostly the taste and practical benefits for the lifestyle athlete.
Types of protein by origin
Let's remember that protein supplements are divided by origin into egg, milk (whey and casein), meat and vegetable (soy, rice, pea, etc.) protein. Each type of raw material has its own biological value index, or, more simply, the degree of protein digestibility, and at the same time the degree to which it satisfies the body’s protein needs. This depends on the amino acid composition of the specific proteins that make up a particular product. Egg and whey proteins have an optimal amino acid composition, and they are also capable of maximally satisfying all the body’s protein needs. Proteins of plant origin (for example, soy) are the least effective due to the reduced content of essential amino acids (lysine, threonine, BCAA), as well as the presence of substances that impede the breakdown and absorption of these proteins, which is why their biological value is determined at 74% . At the same time, a high degree of purification (at the level of an isolate with a protein content above 85%), as well as the combination of several plant proteins with each other, leveling out the deficiencies of their amino acid profile, makes it possible to increase their biological value.
