Bodybuilding.com obituary on the tragic death of the #1 fitness model in the world - Greg Plitt:

Gregg Plitt was a professional athlete, actor and fitness model. Why did you appear? Yes, because in 2020 an absurd accident tragically cut short his life.

He always promoted a healthy lifestyle. He developed a special training system called MFT28. Countless times fans and admirers could see his face on the covers of popular glossy publications.

For bodybuilders, especially those who are at the very beginning of this difficult path, he is a kind of icon, and many women in the world literally go crazy about him.

It is quite difficult to imagine the state of his fans who learned of his tragic death in January 2020. This happened during the filming of a commercial. This news literally came as a shock to many of his fans around the world.

During his life, with a height of 185 cm, his weight was 88 kg.

Selected moments from the biography

The athlete’s birthplace was the small town of Burbank, located in the US state of California. And this happened in 1977 on November 3. His mother was a designer and worked in one of the agencies, and his father’s field of activity was in real estate trading.

The family consisted of two children. The second child is his sister. The family in which Greg grew up was a completely typical average unit of American society. As a teenager, the athlete took an active part in the life of various sports sections. He was irresistibly drawn to sports, and his passion for various sports disciplines was passed on to him from his father, who was also friendly with sports.

My father built a makeshift gym in the house with his own hands. Friends often visited the teenager, with whom he did pull-ups on the horizontal bar and did push-ups on the uneven bars. Greg Plitt’s formation was greatly influenced by his sister, who graduated from the Naval Academy. He followed in her footsteps and joined her too.

Selected moments from the biography

Within the walls of the academy, he had to go through a harsh school of life. It was especially difficult at first. The newcomers have not yet gotten used to the free street life and have a hard time getting used to discipline. In this they were helped by stern teachers, who immediately put the cadets in their place at the slightest violation of discipline.

After graduating from the academy, Plitt became a paratrooper. Service over the next 5 years was not a success; I had to visit many hot spots. During his service, Greg completed more than 1,500 parachute jumps.

Briefly about crossfit

Wikipedia describes “CrossFit” as a strength training program consisting of constantly changing, high-intensity functional exercises. The exercises themselves usually last no more than 20 minutes and are characterized by increased intensity.

The program usually combines running (sprint races), rowing (on special machines), jumping (with a skipping rope or on obstacles), climbing ropes, working with hardware (dumbbells, weights, barbell), carrying things (medical ball), exercises on rings, flipping tires and many others.

One of the distinctive features of the system is the work in groups of 10-15 people, which helps to train more effectively - experienced community members encourage newcomers, and also compete with each other for the best result.

On Zozhnik we have repeatedly published texts about CrossFit: “Bearded Viking CrossFitter Lucas Parker,” “The hottest CrossFit girl. Interview with Camille LeBlanc-Bazinet“, ““Uncle” Rhabdomyolysis and 11 more myths about CrossFit“.

Today we are publishing a translation of an interview with Greg Glassman, which was done by our colleagues from bodyboss.ru.

Fashion magazine cover star

After leaving the service, Greg becomes the holder of a fitness trainer's license. He begins his difficult journey of training young aspiring athletes. At this time he begins to live in Los Angeles. He takes an active part in the MET-Rx direction and is even awarded the title of athlete of the year.

Plitt begins to actively develop a training program using the MFT28 method. Since that time, many fashion publications have published his photos on the covers. His name is often mentioned in articles talking about a healthy lifestyle.

The athlete spent a lot of time on sports training. But this did not bother him at all. He has achieved significant success in this area. At this time, he became a participant in many fashion projects.

Despite the fact that his life was very short, he managed to appear on the covers of fashion magazines over two hundred times. He has participated in more than three dozen videos. Experts once recognized him as the best male model. In one very famous fitness magazine, he was on the cover for a long time.

Greg Egan

Greg Egan (full name Gregory Mark Egan) was born on August 20, 1961 in Perth (Australia). As a teenager, he read books by Philip K. Dick, Samuel Delany, Alfred Bester, Brian Aldiss, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Heinlein, Harlan Ellison, Urusula le Guin - they were his favorite writers. Then he switched to Kurt Vonnegut and Larry Niven, and then, gradually moving away from science fiction, began reading David Ireland, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Joseph Heller, Thomas Pynchon. But after reading Greg Beer’s story “Music in the Blood,” I returned to SF again.

Egan decided to become a scientist at the age of six, and after leaving school he attended the University of Western Australia, where he received a bachelor's degree in mathematics. After that, he decided to make his own film, using the money he earned over several years, when he worked part-time delivering milk in a truck. Having bought the film rights to Out of the Flying Pan (an absurdist play by British writer David Campton) for $1,000, Egan eventually shot an hour-long film on 8mm film based on his own script. It was a satirical film about a referendum to decide whether the human race should destroy itself through annihilation. Egan's family and friends starred in the film, and all voice acting and dialogue were recorded later. After finishing the film, Egan used it to get into the Australian Film and Television School, but after about four weeks of studying, he decided he hated the film industry. Over the next six months, Egan looked for work, and along the way, he admitted, wrote several bad stories. He eventually managed to get a job as a research programmer at a Sydney hospital, where he worked for four and a half years among doctors and biochemists, writing fantasy stories. In 1983, his first published novel was From an Unusual Point of View , a mainstream novel with a dash of fantasy about a high school student who "learned to make movies in his head."

In 1987, Greg Egan returned to his hometown, where for some time he combined work as a writer and programmer. In 1990, he wrote his eighth novel, Quarantine, a fantasy mystery, the first book he said he was pleased with. Two years later, this novel was published, and yet, despite favorable reviews, Egan for some time did not dare to completely switch to literary activity, partly due to the fact that he always wrote very slowly and was not sure whether he could live on royalties professional writer. In subsequent years, Greg Egan wrote several more novels, published several collections of short stories, and in 1999 received a Hugo Award (as well as a Locus Award and Asimovs Readers Awards) for the story Oceanic, becoming one of Australia's best-known science fiction writers.

Egan writes hard science fiction, focusing on topics related to mathematics, quantum mechanics, the nature of consciousness, genetics, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and the relationship between rational materialism and religion.

In recent decades, panoramic visions of a post-human distant future have become increasingly noticeable in the work of Greg Egan. So in 1997, one of the author’s strongest novels was published, Diaspora, an unrecognized classic of modern science fiction, a space opera with a Stapledonian flavor, opening new horizons in the genre. In 2002, another interesting work appeared - “Schild's Staircase”, the writer is actively working in a small form. In 2008 and 2010, new novels by the author were published - “Incandescence” and “Zendegi”.

Due to some general specificity and overload of the scientific component (such a branch in science fiction is even called “hardest science fiction”), Egan’s work resonates, of course, not with all science fiction fans, and it can be said that it has not yet received the full recognition that it definitely deserves...

Doing business and filming

The athlete has also achieved great success in the field of entrepreneurship. Thanks to several successful projects, his profits amounted to millions of dollars.

While acting in films, the athlete advertised exercise equipment, protein supplements and other things in this area. The basis for one famous film was his biography.

The athlete himself starred in many famous films. Suffice it to recall such films as “False Temptation” or “Terminator”. In addition, he was a participant in many American talk shows, which were very popular among viewers.

Tragic death and cause of death

Due to circumstances, Greg fell under the wheels of a train during the filming of one video. It was just an accident and the athlete himself is to blame for the tragic death.

They advertised a wonderful cocktail, and after taking a sip of it, Greg overtakes a train rushing at full speed. This was the script for this video.

The actor was running in front of the train, but he was faster and simply knocked down the stunt performer running in front. As a result of such absurdity, the life of a wonderful athlete and person was cut short.

Death[ | ]

On January 17, 2020, Greg Plitt was killed by a Metrolink train in Burbank, California. Immediately after the incident, Metrolink announced on its official Twitter that a person was hit on line 268 and traffic was suspended[4]. During the investigation into the cause of death, the police found out that there were two other people on the tracks with the athlete; together they were filming an advertisement for an energy drink. According to the plot, Plitt had to drink the advertised product and overtake a moving train. Apparently, Greg believed that the train would pass along the adjacent track, and found himself in front of the train[2][5].

Workout

Greg worked out every week for 5 working days. Daily classes were devoted to strengthening a specific muscle group.

For example:

  • Classes on Monday and Tuesday are devoted to training the muscles of the chest area.
  • On Wednesday, the training focuses on the shoulders.
  • Arms are trained on Thursday and legs on Friday.

At the end of the training sessions, attention was paid to the abdominals. The human abdominal cavity has three regions. Each day a specific area was emphasized.

The athlete had a catastrophic lack of free time, so he started his training very early . Classes started at 5:30 am. Although there is an opinion that you cannot train too early. There was simply no way out. Therefore, training had to start very early.

Of course, if given the choice, Plitt said, evening classes would be the best option. In this case, after training you can lie down and relax. It is unlikely that this will be possible to do in the morning.

Greg Plitt Quotes

It seems that this is the limit, impossible? In fact, I am an opportunity!

The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow.

Make today valuable, change it for the better, a few of these days - a good week - a good month - a great year!

You are not a loser if you lose. You're a loser if you lose and don't try again!

There should be only two thoughts in your head, two questions: - what is my task? - and how will I solve it? There shouldn't be anything else in your head!

A successful person has a goal, a loser has a good reason.

Life is the pursuit of progress, which ultimately equals happiness. Pressures, situations... you can't buy it, you can only earn it.

You try: you fell, you got up, you tried again, and you fell again, and you fell again. The main secret is not to lose to attempts.

You won't have enough strength... The question is how much can you bear; How can you continue through I can’t.

You've invested this much, and that's how close you are to the person you want to be. It's not about the time you do it, and it's not about how much more time it takes.

Quotes by Greg Plitt. Greg Plitt Quotes

... We always look to tomorrow... without having yet done what we can do today.

Stories are made of those who have overcome adversity... no one wants to be forgotten.

Success is not a measure of who you are, but of the obstacles you have had to overcome along the way.

Life is exactly what you want. Because every day you have a choice. You have an incredible responsibility for every choice you make.

Every dream is an opportunity.

Keep your thoughts in order and your body will follow. Any troubles will be tough for you. If you are obsessed, if you devote yourself wholeheartedly to your goal, then you can only win!

If you set a goal for every action, then any activity will give you results.

The only reps you don't grow from are the ones you don't do.

Stop living below your potential.

Life is a plan of action, if you don't have a plan I guarantee someone will use you as part of their fucking plan.
