The base of the bowl can be a reinforced concrete structure; its size and shape depend on the size of the room and the financial capabilities of the owner. A swimming pool, designed as a separate facility, can be located outdoors, have a removable roof, or be located in a building. The undeniable advantages include:

  1. Possibility of all-season operation.
  2. Adjusting the water temperature.
  3. Variety of shapes and sizes.
  4. Durability.

Unfortunately, the construction of permanent pools is not possible on every site, and not everyone can afford it. They also have disadvantages:

  1. High price.
  2. Large volume of earthworks.
  3. One-time order of a large amount of mortar for filling the day and walls of the bowl.
  4. The need for waterproofing a concrete structure and subsequent finishing
  5. Summing up communications.
  6. Installation of a cleaning and filtration system.
  7. Limitation on the topography of the site and the depth of groundwater.
  8. High operating costs.
  9. Energy intensity of the object.

Fixed pools require a lot of work to maintain: they need to be cleaned, water changed, and the integrity of the coating monitored.

Built-in hot tubs

There is an alternative to concrete pools: these are composite tanks that are produced industrially. Their size and shape are limited only by the customer’s imagination. Such fonts can be installed in the sauna relaxation room; after visiting the steam room, you can plunge into ice-cold water. Another option is a wooden font; it is environmentally friendly, has a pleasant smell, but like any wooden product it is susceptible to rotting and can dry out. There are many options for arranging a swimming pool, but each of them requires a set of preparatory measures, financial costs for construction and maintenance.

What you need to go to the sauna

Naturally, a woman’s kit for going to the sauna will be somewhat different from a men’s kit with a large number of all kinds of creams, masks and other things. It is advisable to prepare seriously for the trip and devote proper time to packing.

A basic sauna set for both men and women should look something like this:

  • vitamin tea or mineral water;
  • shampoo;
  • towel;
  • a sheet for wrapping up after leaving the steam room;
  • slippers;
  • sauna cap;
  • aroma oil or cream.

Buying a sauna hat is not difficult - there are a huge number of them on the market and in specialized bath accessories stores. But we highly recommend purchasing felt hats that will reliably protect your head from overheating when exposed to high temperatures.

For women who are unable to tuck their hair under a felt hat, a fleece hat is suitable, completely covering the hair from heat.

You should choose sauna slippers not based on the beauty of their appearance, but make sure that they do not slip, this is their main task. To test the durability of your slippers before visiting the sauna, wear them in your bathroom at home. If they slip, then these slippers are not suitable for you.

When choosing tea for relaxation between visits to the steam room, it is better to take not just black or green from the store, but a herbal infusion. It will have a much better effect on the body when combined with honey or lemon.

But when going to the sauna, girls often prefer to pamper themselves with all sorts of procedures. Here is an approximate list of what the fair half may need in the sauna in addition to the items listed earlier:

  • shower gel;
  • homemade scrubs and peels;
  • shower sponge;
  • brush with natural bristles for massage;
  • shower cap, used when applying hair masks;
  • masks for hair, body and face;
  • nourishing cream after sauna;
  • moisturizer or body milk.

And this is not a complete list of what young ladies may find useful when going to the sauna.

Negative aspects of visiting a sauna

In addition, it is often not recommended to go to the steam room for other reasons. For example, if you have certain health problems, in particular with the cardiovascular system, it is better to consult your doctor before going to the sauna. Pregnant women are not recommended to visit the bathhouse at all.

Temperatures exceeding 60 degrees can negatively affect the skin, hair, joints, respiratory organs and genitals. That is why men are highly discouraged from getting too carried away with bath procedures.

Frequent bathing procedures can provoke problems with male power and cause infertility. Thus, doctors recommend that men under 30 visit the sauna no more than once every three months, and after 30 - much less often.

Visiting rules

  1. Before entering a hot room, you must wash yourself with soap in the shower and wipe your body dry.
  2. Stay in the hot room for 5 - 12 minutes.
  3. Brief cooling in the pool for 3 - 12 minutes and rest for 15 - 20 minutes.
  4. Carry out 2 - 3 similar cycles (items 2 and 3).
  5. Start from the lower steps, gradually rising to the upper ones: you can sit and lie on the steps, raising your legs slightly above head level.
  6. A stay in a bathhouse or sauna ends with rest for 30 - 40 minutes.
  7. The most favorable temperature is 80 - 90 degrees C, so the duration of the first stay in the steam room should not be more than 10 minutes.
  8. Between repeated visits to the sauna, it is useful to swim in the pool.
  9. The total duration of stay in the sauna should not exceed 30 minutes.
  10. At the end of your sauna visit, you need to take a shower and rest for 20-30 minutes.

While in the sauna, you must constantly monitor your well-being!
You can monitor your condition by your heart rate. If before the sauna the pulse is 60 - 80 beats per minute, then at 8 - 10 minutes of the first entry into the sauna it can increase to 110 - 120 beats / min, at 10 - 12 minutes of the second entry the pulse can be 120 - 140 beats ./min., and after rest the pulse is reduced to 80 beats/min. Visiting the sauna requires compliance with simple rules. You should enter the steam room with a sheet wrapped around your naked body to avoid skin contact with hot surfaces. Some people wear swimming trunks and swimsuits, but from a hygiene point of view this is not acceptable, and in Finland it is bad manners. If natural modesty or religion does not allow, then no one can forbid wrapping oneself in a sheet from head to toe or visiting the sauna on “one’s” day—women’s or men’s, or at hours when there are few visitors.

The steam room is hot - the temperature reaches 80-130 degrees, so you can’t stand: you need to sit or lie down. Inexperienced steamers do not necessarily have to settle down “under the ceiling” of the steam room. The first or intermediate level is suitable for them. It's better to start with the first one and gradually move higher.

Sitting in a sauna with your legs down is unacceptable. And this is explained by the fact that the temperature at the bottom of the room is lower than in its upper part, which means that the head and legs of the steamer will heat up unevenly, which threatens heat stroke. You need to sit down with your legs raised on the shelves so that they are at the same level as your butt, but at the same time keep them relaxed and bent. When taking a horizontal position, it is permissible for the legs to be slightly above the head, but not lower.

You need to breathe evenly, through your nose. You can cover it with your palm so that it doesn’t seem too hot. It is better not to talk in the sauna, but to “immerse yourself” in your feelings and relax. There is no need to make any rapid movements. There is no need to rise sharply from a lying position. You must first sit down, and after getting used to it a little, get up and go out.

The maximum amount of time that is recommended to stay in the sauna is 10 minutes. The heating temperature in the room matters. If it has reached 80° and this is the first “entry”, then after 5 minutes it is better to leave the sauna. At 100° you should sit down/lie down on a shelf for just 3 minutes and then go out to cool down. No one should lie on bare boards; shelves should be covered with a towel.
